You have to consider the chemistry when working with specific materials (ie, working with masonite vs. canvas). Reinforced working surfaces help to avoid warping. Order of Medium Operations:

  1. Dry - Charcoal, Pencil
  2. Water-Based -Ink, Watercolor, w/o Plastic, Tea, Gesso
  3. Acrylic - Anything w/ Polymer, Gel, Medium
  4. Oil - Oil Based Mediums, Paint
