Summer Art Exercises: June 9 – Your Palette, Your Voice
Your Palette, Your Voice
Color choice is one of the main tools we as artists have to convey our intent, mood and voice on the canvas. This week's Summer Art Exercise is to go through your palette and revaluate what paint tubes you have and use. Sometimes we get stuck in the rut of using the same palette over and over. It is amazing how playing with mixing with a few new colors can inspire us!
Along with color choice comes brand choice. In the world of oil paint there are countless brands to select from and use. As overwhelming as it can be, we recommend to start purchasing your own tubes of paint that are artist/professional grade rather than student grade. The main difference between student and professional grade paint is that the student grade has pigment, oil and a filler in it and the professional grade is pure pigment and oil.
At the bottom of this post we have listed three of our instructors current preferred pallets as well as a great student grade pallet that we recommend for beginning students!
We hope that this information helps you all get inspired, organized and ready to paint! Braitman Studio Staff www.braitmanstudio.com
